Privacy Policy

Review Slave ("we") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights over it. We do not sell personal data and do not run advertising.

What we collect

• Account data: your name, email address, and — if you provide it — your ORCID iD and the fields, biography, and publication links you enter as an author or reviewer.
• Submission data: manuscripts, supplementary files, metadata, declarations (conflicts, funding, ethics approvals), reviews you write, and the review/decision record.
• Technical data: a secure sign-in session cookie (strictly necessary; set only after you sign in), and standard server logs (IP address, timestamps) kept transiently for security and abuse-prevention.

We use only strictly necessary cookies for authentication. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Why we use it

To operate the peer-review and publishing service: to authenticate you, route submissions and reviews, publish accepted work and its open review record, send transactional email (sign-in links and status notifications), and maintain the integrity and security of the platform. Our legal bases are performance of our service to you, our legitimate interest in running a secure scholarly platform, and — for published content — the public-interest task of maintaining the scholarly record.

Publication is public by design

Peer review here is open. When you submit, and when a decision is issued, your authorship, the article, and the associated review record become part of the permanent public scholarly record. Reviews are signed and public by default unless you choose the anonymous option. Consider this before submitting.

Processors we rely on

We share the minimum necessary data with infrastructure providers acting on our instructions: a cloud host and database provider for the application and its records, an object-storage provider for uploaded files, and an email provider for transactional mail. Each is bound by its own data-protection terms; we do not authorise them to use your data for their own purposes.

Retention

Published articles and their review records are retained indefinitely as part of the permanent scholarly record. Account data is retained while your account is active. Transient server logs are kept only as long as needed for security.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the EU/UK GDPR and Malaysia's PDPA), you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal data, and may object to certain processing. Note that we cannot remove published scholarly content or its review record where doing so would compromise the integrity of the record, though we will correct inaccuracies and honour retraction procedures. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify affected users and authorities of a material breach as required by law.

Children

The service is intended for researchers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
